43-year old caravan park owner Cameron Mackay has won the Dometic Follow the Sun competition and will travel around Australia for three months on the road trip of a lifetime to raise funds and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

Beating thousands of hopefuls across the country, Cameron and his family were chosen as Dometic Follow the Sun Ambassadors and will reviece a makeover of up to $25,000 to their already impressive 2008 Jayco Sterling before embarking on a 13-week expenses paid trip down the east coast of Australia.

Cameron was so excited when hearing the news he couldn’t wait to get off the phone and tell his family.

“When my wife initially put in our entry I said: ‘go for it, it’s not like we’re going to win’, so I guess she really showed me!” said Cameron.

“Dometic and Follow the Sun has given us a great opportunity to enjoy what our beautiful country has on offer, all while putting in effort for an important cause.

“We have a tonne of great fundraising ideas up our sleeves and are really looking forward to getting out there, meeting new people and making a difference by supporting crucial breast cancer research.”

The Mackays will begin their journey at the start of August in Cairns, making stops in Central Queensland, Gold Coast, Shepparton and more before completing their journey in Melbourne on 31 October.

Dometic Australia’s Head of Marketing Justine Schuller welcomed Cameron and his family on board as 2016 Dometic Ambassadors.

“The Mackays are a fabulous family who have been enjoying caravanning and camping holidays for years, and we are delighted to have them on board as Follow the Sun Ambassadors,” said Mrs Schuller.

“We are looking forward to following their travels online and seeing the impact they make through raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research.”

The Mackays will set off on their 13-week adventure at the start of August and will be holding ‘Follow the Sun – Happy Hours’ at predetermined stops along the way. They will be taking in the beautiful sights across Australia’s east coast, regularly posting updates, blogs and Happy Hour locations at www.dometicfollowthesun.com.au.
