TravelManagers’ personal travel managers are well known for their innovative and creative business approach, with Queensland’s Denise Dean representative for Hendra and Leisa Burdette representative for Hamilton, being no exception.
Driven by a passion for Scandinavia, Dean and Burdette participated for the second consecutive year, in the annual Scandinavian Festival held in Newstead.
“The festival brings together the local clubs of Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Estonia and it attracts large crowds of visitors keen to see wares like clothing, trinkets, toys, furniture and jewelry, and sample the delicious specialties of these countries and celebrating everything Scandinavian. The average traveler is unaware of the incredible travel experience Scandinavia can offer and I saw this as an opportunity to raise awareness of a country I’ve always loved. It’s a real unexplored gem of a destination and it’s a real desire of mine to educate and inspire people about natural beauty and the wonders that await them,” says Burdette.
Experience proved to be a valuable asset for the personal travel managers.

“Having attended the show last year was a real benefit. We found this year’s event to be much better than last year as we knew what to expect and we were able to create more of what people really wanted with regard to products and information,” says Burdette.
The event also provided a fantastic opportunity to promote the personal travel manager concept.
“It was great to meet so many members of the wider public and explain the benefits and expertise we can provide as personal travel managers to potential new clients. It also provided an occasion to reconnect with our clients, it was such a nice surprise to see my client Marian Flanigan at the event,” says Dean.
Dean and Burdette are shining examples of working together is far more productive than working against each other.
“I love working with Denise! We work well together because we inspire each other and balance each other well. We recognize each other’s specialties and we also have very, very similar perspectives on presentation, delivery and service, so it’s very easy to achieve results when we are working in the same direction. She also makes me laugh, which is so important. We take what we do seriously but not so seriously that we can’t fall about laughing,” says Burdette.
Dean agrees wholeheartedly “There is no competition between us. Working against each other creates stress, anxiety and negativity. As with our fellow PTMs at TravelManagers we choose to work together and create positivity, happiness and prosperity, you can’t ask for more than that.”

Personal travel managers Dean and Burdette received support from the national partnership marketing team and partner suppliers Finnair, Lufthansa, Collette Tours, Scenic Tours, Albatross Tours and 50 Degrees North.
“The marketing team are simply awesome. We have the ideas but they created and delivered incredible marketing and branding collateral to make our stand look fantastic and also provide clients with flyers to take away that included pricing, valuable information and highlights of the regions to inspire clients to visit the Scandinavian region. We can’t speak highly enough about our partner suppliers whom we have fantastic relationships that also provided incredible support on the day,” says Burdette.
Dean and Burdette view their presence at the Scandinavian Expo as a valuable experience in marketing.
“In conjunction with our partner suppliers we put together mini packages that included tours, flights, and cruises featuring the earlybird deals. We had about 15 solid enquiries with four eventuating into great quality bookings. We have added a good number of new subscribers to our eNewsletter. It was such a great day, meeting new and old friends. We couldn’t be happier and we have already signed up to attend the expo again next year,” says Burdette.
