Proving that work/life balance is more than a corporate buzzword, the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort team has laced up their running shoes for the 2016 Gold Coast Airport Marathon this July.
With 18 InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) team members competing, 2016 is the third consecutive year InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort will brace the starting line, with numbers continuing to grow. Inspired by excellence, motivation and a little friendly competition, this year has also seen colleagues from interstate join the team with three colleagues from Crowne Plaza Surfers Paradise, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley and three team members from the IHG corporate office in Sydney – including Chief Operating Officer, Karin Sheppard who is undertaking her first half marathon.
“My goal is to inspire collaboration, spark fun and live in the present,” said Monique Harmer, General Manager, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. “A hotel environment by nature is a 24 hour, 7 day week business – it’s critical we absorb the present and encourage a healthy work/life balance as a habit, not a luxury.”
The team will see colleagues competing across all races, including the Gold Coast Airport Marathon, ASICS Half Marathon, Suncorp Bank 5.7 km Challenge and Southern Cross University 10 km Run. Ramping up the pace, Monique Harmer will be competing in her first marathon, with her daughter, Grace, running the 2km Junior Dash.
