International hotel chain invests millions into South Australia’s Wirrina
Wirrina Resort – just 70 minutes from Adelaide – is undergoing a multi-million dollar makeover as international hotel group VR Hotels establishes the resort’s reputation as a major destination for holidays and conferences.
Respected New Zealand based VR Hotels which operates 18 properties in the United States and across the Tasman – including the five star Auckland Takapuna Oaks Serviced Apartment Hotel – has chosen Wirrina as its launch pad into the Australian market.
More than $1.5 million has already been spent renovating more than 50 of the resort’s 87 rooms, with further spending planned along with a Kids’ Club and beauty spa.
“On the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula and close to the wine-making region of McLaren Vale, Wirrina is the perfect destination for anyone planning an escape to South Australia,” VR Hotels Managing Director Rakesh Sharma says.
“With a PGA standard 18-hole golf course and marina on its doorstep, Wirrina is surrounded by rolling hills and bordered by a beautiful coastline.
“It’s an ideal destination for family holidays with mini golf, a pool, spa and sauna complex, tennis courts and a gym.”
Mr Sharma said Wirrina also had one of the finest conference facilities in regional South Australia, seating up to 500 delegates theatre-style with a flexible layout that can be divided into three sub-sections for smaller, intimate functions, along with a great outdoor area overlooking the golf course and ocean.
To re-launch Wirrina’s transformation, Wirrina Resort is offering a number of special deals including three nights for the price of two as well as a range of special occasion packages with venue hire and food available from $30 to $50 a person. Packages including fishing trips, visits to Kangaroo Island, deep sea diving and a round of golf on the 18-hole golf course are also available from $100 to $250 a person including accommodation and specific activities.
