AUSTRALIAN owned International Rail has welcomed the start of a new charity initiative introduced by Eurail, that will run from now until July 16 and believes it is a great way to engage agents to provide for clients looking to make a difference with their overseas travel experiences, said owner and managing director Jonathan Hume.

The “Save and Give” promotion, offers a five percent discount on Eurail passes for passengers and with every sale Eurail will donate $25 across two global charities, Make a Wish Foundation and Doctors Without Borders.

Mr Hume believes tourism has evolved to much more than just seeing a destination, many travellers now have a desire to make a positive impact on the fact that they are fortunate enough to experience the privilege of travelling the world.

He added, “Many Australians want to give back, this is a way they can whilst saving some expenses on their rail travel. Rail has always been an economical way to travel around Europe and with this latest promotion it is even more so now”.

An example is the popular Eurail Global Flexi Pass of 10 days travel in one month, now available from $608 per person in second class.

International Rail recently launched its new live booking system for rail systems in UK and Europe, allowing agents to book seat reservations for Eurail Passes instantly for their clients  across the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia, as well as popular intercountry services such as Eurostar and overnight trains; the website connects directly to the European reservations systems, Hume said.
