International venues say ‘I do’ to new Aussie wedding app

Former Australian Olympian Holly Lincoln-Smith always knew she wanted to work in the wedding industry, but the desire for an elusive gold medal lingered and kept her in the pool until her retirement from professional water polo in 2016 following the Rio Olympics.

After jostling with some of the toughest women in the world, it’s her new wedding app that is making waves in a different heat – the booming wedding industry.

Her new app, The Little White Wedding Guide, features some of Australia, the South Pacific and Asia’s trendiest wedding venues, including the W Koh Samui, Samabe Bali Suites & Villas, Samoa’s Taumeasina Island Resort (pictured), Jonah’s Whale Beach and Longitude 131 in the Northern Territory.

Holly said it’s a dream come true working with some of these stunning venues.

“It’s a pinch-me moment when venues like Longitude 131 and Thailand’s W Koh Samui come on board,” she said.

“This started as a bit of a dream, a way to make wedding planning less stressful for brides, and now it’s very much a reality.
“ I started with Australian venues, but with the rise in destination weddings I saw the need for including international venues, too. This means we now have venues from across the world featured, including the stunning Taumeasina Island Resort and Samabe Bali.”
Retiring from professional water polo in 2016 meant Holly could finally pursue a career in the wedding industry. However, it was while searching online for a property in her hometown of Sydney, she had her light bulb moment.
“I was searching endlessly for properties and thought to myself, ‘How great would it be if I could create an app that was essentially the of wedding venues?’,” Holly said.

“For my own wedding in Byron Bay I trawled the internet, spoke with wedding planners and spent countless hours searching for the ‘perfect’ wedding venue.”

With the rise in businesses like,, and the demand for online retailers to provide a selection of brands in one place, the Australian bridal market is still relatively behind for an industry worth $300 million in 2016.

People still heavily rely on word of mouth recommendations or wedding planners, who can add an extra cost to what is an already expensive day.

“Planning a wedding can be really overwhelming and I wanted to take the stress out and make searching for a venue, which is often the hardest part, simple.”

After spending time using real estate apps, Holly decided there was a gap in the market to access wedding venues online without having to trawl through search engine results or engage a wedding planner.

She worked tirelessly with app developers, venues and brides-to-be and from that The Little White Wedding Guide app was born.

The app features tricks of the trade for brides-to-be when planning the wedding of their dreams.

From venues, vendors, real weddings and daily inspiration updates, The Little White Wedding Guide is the new go-to for every Australian bride.

The Little White Wedding Guide App has launched as the first wedding venue app in Australia and is downloadable via your smartphone.
