The Bali and Beyond Travel Fair (BBTF) 2015 is currently taking place at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center, Bali from 10th -13th June 2015, with the aim to re-introduce and promote Indonesia’s idyllic tourism destinations. The fair has attracted travel buyers from around the world along with participating sellers from Bali and other parts of the Indonesian archipelago.
Bali was chosen as the host of this prestigious event as it is already recognized as a popular holiday island and the gateway to other exotic destinations,” explains Ketut Ardana, SH., Chairman of the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2015. He goes on to add that BBTF is a melting pot for stakeholders in the tourism industry. Therefore, this event is intended to be an effective tool to introduce and promote the potential of emerging Indonesian locations to global travellers.
The business-to-business meetings actually commenced Wednesday, 10th June 2015 with a total of 175 participants from Bali and beyond. An enthusiastic contingent of sellers are representing Badung Regency, Karangasem Regency, Buleleng Regency Nusa Tenggara Barat Province, Nusa Tenggara Timur Province, Selayar Regency, Bandung, Raja Ampat Regency, Wakatobi Regency and others. Scheduled sessions have been arranged with 77 registered buyers coming from 28 different countries.
With regards to the Ministry of Tourism’s objective to target 20 million tourist arrivals in 2019, Ardana believes that BBTF will certainly be a contributing factor to this projected figure. “As stakeholders in the tourism industry, we must remain in sync with the government’s programs. Consequently, BBTF is a platform and promotional tool to attract visitors to Bali as well as other parts of Indonesia. Our aim is for tourist arrivals to be evenly distributed across the entire archipelago,” says Ardana.
The Deputy for Foreign Tourism Marketing Development, Professor I Gde Pitana officially launched BBTF 2015 during the opening ceremony at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre on Thursday, 11th June 2015. The event continued with a press conference attended by Professor I Gde Pitana together with the Chairman of Bali & Beyond Travel Fair – Ketut Ardana, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office – Anak Agung Gede Yuniartha Putra, SH.MH, Chairman of the Bali Tourism Board – Ida Bagus Ngurah Wijaya, BPPD, and Chairman of the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation – Ida Bagus Wirajaya.
