Brooklyn’s attractions, entertainment and hospitality businesses will be part of the world’s biggest tourism trade show this June. Explore Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s tourism department, will be headed to IPW for the fourth consecutive year. The Chamber will represent the borough alongside Luna Park, Turnstile Tours, The Levy’s Unique NY, The William Vale, The Hampton Inn and The Wyndham Garden BK. The show takes place in Washington, D.C. from June 3 to June 7, 2017, and Explore Brooklyn is proud to be an exhibitor at Booth #2114.

“Brooklyn is no longer just a great place to visit when you’re in New York. It’s become a destination for anyone looking to visit anywhere on the planet,” said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Andrew Hoan. “We are proud to once again bring Brooklyn’s out-of-this-world attractions, cultural institutions, hotels and dining options to IPW for all to see. Explore Brooklyn makes it easy to navigate the best of Brooklyn.”

“Brooklyn has an incredible diversity of tourist hotspots from the world-renowned Brooklyn Bridge to the beaches of Coney Island,” said Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams. “I’m glad to see Explore Brooklyn is exhibiting at this year’s IPW to showcase some of our borough’s best attractions and accommodations. Brooklyn is one of the most diverse cities in the country, and that combined with all that is available here make this chunk of America a stellar destination for all types of travelers.”

For the second year running, Explore Brooklyn will be a Platinum Sponsor of the annual NYC & Company Client Event at IPW. The Chamber is proud to represent the borough in partnership with New York City’s official tourism organization.

“Brooklyn’s new hotels, attractions, restaurants and more ensure that it remains one of New York City’s – and the world’s – hottest destinations. NYC & Company is looking forward to showcasing the borough’s many vibrant neighborhoods and offerings at IPW again this year,” said Fred Dixon, NYC & Company President and CEO.

Brooklyn is New York City’s most populous borough; by 2020, its population is expected to overtake Chicago’s, making it America’s “third-largest city.”

An estimated 14 million tourists will visit Brooklyn this year, and tourism and entertainment is the second fastest growing industry in Brooklyn; it accounted for nearly 15 percent of the new jobs created there in 2016. Private sector jobs in tourism and entertainment grew by 51,500, a growth pace of 9 percent. Wages in the industry are also on the rise; from 2014 to 2015, the average wage rose from $23,000 to $24,000, an increase of nearly five percent.

Brooklyn is home to world-renowned dining, culture and entertainment. In the past year, hotel inventory increased with the addition of the William Vale, the Williamsburg Hotel, and 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The borough has also opened even more amazing tourist attractions, including the New York Cosmos soccer team at MCU Park and FIA Formula E Championship coming to Red Hook in July.

Entertainment in Brooklyn also continues to reach new heights with the refurbishment of historic Kings Theatre, which re-opened its doors in 2015 after a $94 million restoration. The Barclays Center, the highest-grossing arena in the U.S., welcomed back the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and hosted the final shows of Ringling Bros., Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Visit Brooklyn and see what the world’s greatest borough is all about!
