Irate passenger tried to crawl through carousel door

Fed up with waiting for his checked baggage to appear on the airport carousel, a passenger dealt with an extended delay by leaping on the carousel and trying to crawl through the conveyor belt door at the end to grab his bag.

It happened after a lengthy baggage delay at Aberdeen Airport in Scotland a day or two ago left passengers from a British Airways flight frustrated and furious.

They were told after arrival they couldn’t reclaim their bags, owing to a hitch caused by weather.

The wait was so long one man took matters into his own hands and tried to crawl through the carousel conveyor belt door.

Airport police arrived shortly afterwards at the baggage reclaim area to calm tempers, the Aberdeen Evening Express reported. The police encountered “angry crowds demanding action” but no arrests were made.

Many passengers stormed off into the winter cold and headed home after waiting over an hour and 15 minutes with no bags in sight.

BA apologised for the delay. Its handling agent Swissport blamed the weather and pledged to learn from the incident, the paper said. Passengers claimed they were told there were not enough staff to move bags from the hold, so their bags were still on the plane.
