This year marked the 14th consecutive year that Thailand hosted the premier event of IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific, the world’s only double bill event for the MICE and corporate travel sectors and the springboard for the whole industry.

The event was again successfully held at the Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld, Bangkok on September 29 – October 1, 2015.
Numbers count! There were altogether 297 exhibition companies and organizations, 399 international buyers, mainly from the Asia-Pacific region and Europe, and 116 media representatives from 25 countries. The main social functions were pre-show city tours in Bangkok, the opening ceremony and welcome reception “Heaven unveiled. A night in paradise” in the evening of September 29 hosted by Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), a hosted lunch by Seoul Metropolitan Government of South Korea and a hosted dinner by Tourism Promotions Board Philippines on September 30. Also, post-show tours went to Koh Samui and Krabi.
Furthermore, the official airline was Thai Airways International and the official hotels were from the finest in Bangkok, namely Centara Grand @ Central World, Rennaissance, Bangkok Ratchaprasong, Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok, InterContinental Bangkok, The Okura Prestige Bangkok, and Plaza Athenee. The well-known and popular Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok on Sukhumvit Soi 18 was one of the supporting hotels.
Important media briefings to highlight MICE venues were held by TCEB, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau, Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Indonesia Convention Exhibition, India Tourism, and Thai Airways International. New was a highly profiled ASEAN MICE Forum, as the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) will take shape at the end of this year. Plans are in place to expand roads and the logistic network to the ASEAN countries, where Thailand will be the hub. Interesting to note was therefore the fact that the countries of Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia and Viet Nam were not present at this year’s show.
Despite the bombing accident at the Erawan Shrine on August 17, this year’s event saw a growth of 14% in exhibitors’ participation, while sponsorship engagements have increased by more than 40% over 2014. Finally, next year’s 24th IT&CMA and 19th CTW Asia-Pacific event will run at the same venue on September 27-29, 2016.
