Landmark Circular Quay venue Cruise Bar has thrown open its doors after a year-long hiatus with a focus on stunning new menus and an interior transformation across all its three levels. A perennial favorite of visiting celebrities and headquarters of Australian Fashion Week, Cruise Bar’s bold new transformation focuses on high-end cuisine served to share as well as creating unique experiences.
“Our new team brings the perfect mix of creativity and operational expertise, to ensure an unforgettable experience for our guests. We’ve been collaborating on this for close to 12 months now and I’m so excited for Sydney and the world to see what we’ve created, said Christopher Cheung owner of Cruise Bar.
Now Richard’s creative cuisine is wowing diners across Cruise Bar’s three distinct areas – the casual wharf side garden oasis bar on the ground floor, the sophisticated oriental-style dining and drinking den Junk Lounge above, and the top level function area. Seasonally tweaked and using the freshest locally-sourced seasonal produce, Richard’s Cruise Bar menus are world class.
Cruise Bar’s three levels are a total departure from its previous offering. Step inside the ground floor and you will enter a garden-style oasis filled with greenery and hints of nautical décor. Hanging plants, a bar draped in artfully arranged mooring ropes and an amazing 12m living moss wall greet patrons taking their seats metres from the foreshore behind floor-to-ceiling glass. The lush outdoor garden area is also one of the very few places of its kind in Sydney to relax, drink and dine just footsteps from the harbour.
Here the internationally styled menu covers everything from mouth-watering charcuterie to succulent seafood. Grazing over prawn tagines, sliced sirloin and tasty bone marrow or baby snapper fillets while enjoying specially designed cocktail carafes, local beer and wine is already proving irresistible for visitors.
Up the stairs Cruise Bar’s second level beckons patrons seeking a stylish night out. This chic and sophisticated space has become the Junk Lounge, named after Hong Kong harbour’s traditional vessels. The oriental bar, is decked out with dazzling décor from eye-catching murals by world famous urban artist Fin DAC and a sleek copper-topped bar to glass buoys filled with Siamese fighting fish suspended above diners and pendant lights fashioned from fish traps scattered through the lounge area. Perfect for special occasions and nights out, the buzzy vibe is curated by mood lighting and some of Sydney’s most renowned DJs.
Junk Lounge offers a 24-seat communal dining table, hand-made from Oregon, as well as an elegant bar side area for reclining in colonial wooden chairs and a sunken window-side lounge. The uniquely designed asian street food is the big drawcard here, with an extensive selection of exquisite Pan-Asian fare to choose from. Served tapas style, meals can be matched with creative cocktails unique to Cruise Bar, some infused with uniquely Australian flavours such as lemon myrtle and macadamia oil.
The third-level function area, The Deck, is almost double in size since its days as the VIP Bar for Australian Fashion Week. This space is first class, having played host to numerous functions over the years, from Ferrari to Cartier. The premium function area is ideal for any flavor of event, from product launches and corporate events, to weddings and its decorative potential is limited only by the imagination.
Cruise Bar is quickly becoming the hottest and most stylish place in town. Come see us soon at Circular Quay and set sail into a whole new world of flavor and fun.
