Tri State Safaris have long been considered the experts in bringing the joy of outback travel to keen adventurers. For over 20 years the Tri State team have travelled from Broken Hill to Broome and experienced all the many wonderful destinations between.
Proud new owner, Scott Smith is delighted to be part of such a great business and takes over at a time when outback travel is thriving. Under Scott’s ownership, Tri State Safaris will continue their many and varied outback tours (currently 14) and Eco Tourism adventures with Mutawintji Eco-Tours. He remains committed to the same philosophies that have always been integral to Tri State – providing exceptional customer service and delivering a rewarding and authentic outback experience to all travellers, from the young to the young at heart.
Scott is keen for Tri State to become recognised as the specialists in bringing ‘Out of the Ordinary Outback’ to Australian and international travellers alike. He also looks forward to further highlighting tourism in far west NSW with visits to the iconic ‘oasis in the desert’, White Cliffs Underground Motel as well as Copper City Motel, the Ivanhoe Motel in Ivanhoe and the brand new Warrawong on the Darling in Wilcannia.
Scott looks forward to providing travellers with a broader product range through which to experience tourism in NSW.
“I am passionate about the outback and am thrilled to be taking over such a reputable company,” says Smith. “We plan to continue doing what Tri State Safaris has always done best – deliver unforgettable Australian experiences – while growing the business.”
Scott takes over from long-term owners Michael and Joanne McCulkin. The much loved couple will stay on in the business for the next year to ensure the smoothest of transitions as Tri State Safaris grows and diversifies.
“After 24 very rewarding years, it is with much excitement that we hand over the reins of Tri State Safaris to Scott Smith,” explains Mick McCulkin. “Scott will take Tri State to the next level and truly broaden its horizons. We’ve had such an amazing ride and loved every minute of it but it’s time for a new chapter for the business and for us. We look forward to working together and wish Scott all the very best.”
Mick and Jo are also likely to remain involved in some of the bigger tours such as the 18-day annual Kimberley Tour, as well as still being at the forefront of the business at travel expos. And whilst they may be enjoying semi-retirement in sunny Queensland in the years to come, they’ll always consider Broken Hill home.
The city of Broken Hill has always been the heart of Tri State Safaris and the business will shortly relocate to brand new premises in Argent Street. The Grand Opening Launch will take later in the year with more details on this event to come shortly.
The word safari means ‘journey’ and true to its origins, Tri State Safaris will take travellers on fantastic journeys and introduce them to incredible scenery, abundant wildlife and memorable Aussie characters. Under Scott’s direction, Tri State Safaris will continue to explore new and fascinating destinations and create memories that will last a lifetime.
