Vibrant colors, daring designs, and a grand fiesta will light up a corner of metropolitan Jakarta once again as the Jakarta Fashion Week 2016, – the biggest and most spectacular Fashion Festival in Indonesia – gets underway from 24th to 30thOctober 2015 at Senayan City, Jakarta.
Entering its 8th edition this year, this great fashion fiesta will feature 10 to 15 top Indonesian designers in collaborative creations in Jakarta Fashion Week (JFW) with top designers from Thailand, South Korea, The United Kingdom, Australia, and the Middle East. Highlighting next year’s fashion trends, JFW2016 emphasizes the international collaboration that was the source of inspirations for both the Indonesian as well as collaborating international designers.
One of the results of the fusion that will be showcased during the event are textiles created by a number of fashion students from London who came here to specially stud traditional batik textiles from the city of Pekalongan, in Central Java.
Moslem “Hijab” wear or modest wear will also receive a special spotlight in this year’s JFW.
“In total, there will be approximately 250 designers who will showcase their most outstanding creations in the 7 days event” said Leny Tedja, Director of the Jakarta Fashion Week at a press conference in Jakarta, Thursday, 27th August 2015.
Conceived in 2008, the Jakarta Fashion Week is Indonesia’s annual prime fashion event: a platform for emerging brands to become associated with innovative design, elegant style and luxury. The scope and impact of Jakarta Fashion Week are widely acknowledged by noted industry professionals, editors, buyers, photographers, stylists and models whose influence reach wide national and international communities. The Jakarta Fashion Week’s rising prominence as one of Southeast Asia’s most influential fashion event bodes well for Indonesia’s fashion to enter the global fashion market.
