JAL to reduce fuel surcharges

June 21, 2013 Destination North Asia No Comments Email Email

egtmedia59Japan Airlines has requested approval from the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to revise down the fuel surcharges applied on all its international passenger tickets issued between Aug 1 and Sept 30.

JAL sets fuel surcharge levels bimonthly based on the 2-month average price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel.

The price of Singapore kerosene-type jet fuel during the two month period of April and May 2013 averaged $115.94 per barrel.

With reference to the fuel surcharge benchmark list for fiscal year 2013, this corresponds to Zone F of fuel surcharges. From August to September 2013, it will range from 2,000 yen on a Japan – Korea ticket, to 21,000 yen on a Japan – USA ticket per person per sector flown, on tickets purchased in Japan.
