Jamaica To Blaze With Color And Excitement During Annual Carnival Season

Carnival season in Jamaica is one of the biggest cultural celebrations on the island, and this year it will bring a magnificent spectacle of color and revelry. After its official kick-off in January, the 2017 carnival season will offer an array of exciting events that will build anticipation to the final Road March on Carnival Sunday, April 23rd. This year sees the return of mas bands, which have previously participated in the festivities. Visitors and locals alike are welcome to join one of the four Carnival “Mas Bands” – Bacchanal Jamaica, Jamaica Carnival, Xaymaca International and Xodus.

Bacchanal Jamaica

Known for starting the carnival tradition, Bacchanal Jamaica will once again be back for this year’s season. The Bacchanal Jamaica band has partnered with Trinidadian band, The Frenchmen, this year to deliver a premium and exotic experience that will be full of transformation and change from start to finish. Jamaica Carnival

Jamaica Carnival is the brainchild of the late Byron Lee. The band is known for offering a unique fusion of reggae, dancehall, calypso and soca. Jamaica Carnival will culminate the season with ‘Back pon de Road March’ on April 23. For more information, visit:

Xaymaca International

One of the newest and trendiest carnival bands to join this year is Xaymaca, the Taino name for Jamaica, meaning wood and water. The band created a partnership with Trinidadian band, Tribe, for the Carnival this year and is dedicated to providing a fun and authentic masquerade experience. Xodus is another new band joining the carnival this year, courtesy of the Dream Entertainment team. The band partnered with Yuma, one of the biggest bands from Trinidad, with the hopes of creating something really special for Carnival Sunday.
