Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will bow into World Cup action against Brazil on Sunday, June 9 at 9:30 am ET at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble, France. The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) is throwing its support behind the team and giving the Diaspora an opportunity to get in on the action by hosting a series of World Cup Watch Parties in four major markets: New York, Fort Lauderdale, Baltimore and Toronto.

“We are excited that the Reggae Girlz have qualified to represent Jamaica on the global soccer stage,” said Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism.  “We are so proud of the Reggae Girlz and invite the Jamaican and Caribbean Diaspora and friends of Jamaica to come out in their colors and cheer on the team in the opening match in their historic World Cup campaign.”

Jamaica’s senior national women’s soccer team, the Reggae Girlz, qualified for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup on October 17, 2018 defeating Panama 4-2 on penalties, becoming the first Caribbean nation ever to qualify for the ultimate competition in women’s football. The 53rd ranked Reggae Girlz is one of four debutants at this year’s World Cup, joining Chile, Scotland and South Africa.
