Japan Airlines to fly Dreamliners to Melbourne

June 1, 2017 Headline News No Comments Email Email

Japan Airlines (JAL) will launch a new daily non-stop service from Narita Tokyo to Melbourne from 2 September 2017, a new route for the Japanese carrier.

Melbourne will become the second Australian city included in JAL’s international network. JAL will serve the route with B787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

The daily flights between Melbourne and Tokyo will fly a different schedule to JAL’s Sydney to Tokyo route to offer more options to travellers. MEL-NRT is an overnight flight while SYD-NRT is a day flight. Similarly NRT-MEL is a day flight while NRT-SYD is overnight.

Melbourne will become the second destination in Australia in JAL’s international network. A nonstop round-trip service will meanwhile be added between Tokyo (Narita) and Kona on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Both routes will be operated with the airline’s well-received JAL Sky Suite configured aircraft “in order to provide both business and leisure customers with greater convenience and comfort”, the carrier said.

The new Melbourne service will depart from Narita in the morning and arrive into Melbourne at night, while the return flight will depart from Melbourne at night and arrive into Narita in the morning.

Full details of the flights are as follows (all times local):
