Blessed by natural resources in abundance, Jiang Nan has long been known for a distinct culinary culture dominated by Huaiyang, Suxi and Zhejiang cuisines. Its dishes fuse southern Chinese cookery’s characteristics of freshness, crispness and tenderness with northern Chinese cuisine’s saltiness, vibrant colours and richness. The result is a combination of the best of both worlds that offer a distinctive flavour that is savory with a sweet undertone.

The culinary heaven is also famed for small dishes best paired with teas, with precise cooking times and temperatures being crucial elements. The overall flavour is sweet, and the food is rich but not stodgy. On the other hand, it also embraces purity and subtlety, and values the original flavours and character of the ingredients, giving its dishes a fresh, crisp and tender texture, and clean, natural taste.

With a stylish 3,600 sq ft venue seating 130, including two semi-private VIP dining rooms seating up to 10 each, the new Jiang Nan dining destination features an ‘open plan’ concept which connects to passers-by in the shopping arcade. Interior design is “modern with traditional southern Chinese characteristics”, incorporating dynamic 3D forms and linear patterns to complement YOHO’s contemporary setting.

Partition screens at varying angles with metallic trims enhance the restaurant’s dynamic styling. An eye-catching combination of furniture styles, cosy seating, fixtures and artifacts also underline the trendy setting; with traditional timber, modern glass and classy low-level, dimmable, vintage lighting creating a refined dining ambience that is coupled with VIP room setting to provide a place to celebrate joyous family banquets, or casual social gatherings with classic and contemporary Jiang Nan dishes and a broad array of beverage and wine for food-lovers.

Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Holdings also serves an array of handpicked wine and tea, adding to  appreciation of fine Jiang Nan cuisine and completing the exceptional dining experience. The restaurant’s “bun2 bong1 be1” is an exotic handcrafted ale combining traditional western beer ingredients with oriental flavours including osmanthus, red dates, goji berry, chrysanthemum, rose, jasmine, Da Hong Pao, Pu-Erh tea, yangmei, LuHing Mui, roselle, zedoary, ginger, liquorice and dried fruit peels (chan-pei), giving dishes it is paired with an instant Shanghai sentiment.

Jiang-Nan cuisine, celebrated among the ‘Eight Great Traditions’ of Chinese gastronomy, is renowned for its gourmet culture’s exceptional delicacy and complex cooking processes. The region generally refers to the southern area of the Yangtze River, and Huaiyang, Suxi and Zhejiang, which are mainstream culinary expressions of Jiang Nan, with various dishes having gradually become a lost art.
