Joerg Meyer of Award-Winning Le Lion Bar de Paris Concocts His Classic Cocktails at Lobster Bar and Grill

Lobster Bar and Grill at Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong welcomes Joerg Meyer from award-winning Le Lion Bar de Paris in Hamburg, Germany from 10 to 14 June 2014. 

For five days, Joerg will serve a series of his classic and sophisticated cocktails over nightly themes – 1940’s Night, Parisian Night, and The Golden Age of Cocktails – alongside Lobster Bar and Grill’s skilled bartenders headed by Agung Prabowo.  A variety of jazz repertoires will be played during the evening to accompany the ingenious concoctions inspired by each theme.

1940’s Night (10 June 2014) – Mingle with friends, colleagues and new acquaintances over classic cocktails with a twist and Joerg’s modern take on 1940s drinks with The Santa Marta and The Sloppy Joe’s Mojito while listening to rhythmic tunes of Afro-Cuban jazz and acid jazz.Joerg Meyer

Parisian Night (11 to 12 June 2014) – Take a trip down to Le Lion Bar de Paris and sip on such sought-after cocktails as Joerg’s signature drink, the Gin Basil Smash and Padovani.  Smooth beats of Chicago jazz and urban blues complete the whole Le Lion vibe.

The Golden Age of Cocktails (13 to 14 June 2014) – Classic cocktails takes centre stage as Lobster Bar and Grill winds the clock back when the Ramos Gin Fizz and Whiskey Smash were at their peak.  With a soundtrack of vintage, uncut soul and jazz funk, this night takes its inspiration from the booming drink scenes of the Baroque and Classic eras.

Joerg started bartending in 1997.  Since then, he has captured the attention of global drink lovers and experts alike.  He believes in creating timeless cocktails that many can enjoy time and time again.

“For me, a perfect drink contains fewer ingredients as possible and it should be perfectly combined,” said Joerg.  “Knowledge, experience and having the customer in mind are, in my opinion, a great help in creating a signature cocktail.”

His signature summer cocktail, the Gin Basil Smash, has undeniably attained praises and quickly made the transition from local cocktail to modern classic.  Apart from managing two successful bars in Germany, Joerg is a respected consultant for the bar industry and a keynote speaker on entrepreneurship, bartending and drinks history.  He is also a member of national and international juries for the Bacardi Legacy and Diageo World Class bartending competition.

“I expect the bar scene in Hong Kong to be more colourful, complex and multi-layered,” Joerg said about his first visit to the country.  “A global metropole, a melting pot of nations and cultures; I am very curious to dive into the Hong Kong night life and excited to soak into the different beats of the city.”
