Legendary race caller John Tapp took up a prime position next to the rails on Carnival Spirit last week as he enjoyed a ship tour in Sydney ahead of this year’s Melbourne Cup Cruise.
John will be one of the key attractions on Carnival Spirit’s Cup cruise, sharing his knowledge about Australia’s premier horse race during several Q&A sessions as the ship sails from Sydney to Melbourne.
A mainstay of the Australian racing industry, John has delivered the results of more than 50,000 races since calling his first horse race on Sydney’s 2GB in 1965.
In a winning quinella for guests, popular racing personality Richie Callander will also return to Carnival Spirit this year, joining John to share his tips before the big race. Other race themed activities will include fashion advice sessions, sweepstakes and a series of special dining experiences, including a Mad Hatters’ afternoon tea and post-Cup recovery brunch.
Fares on the eight-night roundtrip Melbourne Cup cruise, departing Sydney on October 30, start from $1449* per person twin share and include general admission entry into Flemington and transfers, plus onboard meals, entertainment and activities.
