Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy award-winner Common, Modern Family and The Good Wife actors Julie Bowen and Josh Charles, and baseball Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. have come together over their shared love for the city of Baltimore to help produce a series of videos to showcase the destination through their eyes.
They are among a group of well-known personalities assembled by Visit Baltimore to launch “My BMore,” a new tourism campaign to highlight different aspects of the city that resonate with each personality. Launching today, the first round of videos and print ads will also feature TV personality Mike Rowe, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank, former Harlem Globetrotter Choo Smith, actor Johnathon Schaech and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Music Director, Marin Alsop. Other personalities, such as NBA player Carmelo Anthony, will participate in round two of the campaign.
Whether it’s for the city’s acclaimed foodie scene, arts and culture, family-friendly attractions, emerging neighborhoods, sporting pedigree or history and heritage sites, Baltimore has special place in the heart of each star, all of whom share a personal connection with the City.
I’d like to share the videos and images that demonstrate why Baltimore is special to them:
- “Never before have I been so warmly embraced by a city than when I filmed my movie in Baltimore… Every neighborhood has its own unique personality: historic. Artsy. Soulful. Fun. I’ve made friends here that will be a part of my life forever.” – Common, artist, social conscience
- “Because I can take the train from New York and in just over two hours, I’m watching the O’s play in Camden Yards.” – Josh Charles, actor, native son.
- “Because I have three kids – and I want to show them everything. The Sharks at the Aquarium. The dinosaurs at the Science Center. Chessie the paddleboat. The art at the Walters…. I want their days to be full of excitement, activities and fun.” – Julie Bowen, actress, cool mom.
