JTG rebranding – expert opinion from Travel Counsellors

David Speakman, Chairman at global independent travel company Travel Counsellors gives his expert opinion: “The revamp of JTG was well overdue, whether Helloworld is more suitable for the new Royal birth or the answer to JTGs problems is debatable. What is certain is that it is an opportunity for many agents to also consider a change.

“Over the last decade society has changed and customers now do not have to book travel through travel agents. So agents must differentiate themselves in order to attract customers. Many agents believe that customers are only attracted by the cheapest price, yet this is not true.

“Customers are now overwhelmed by choice and uncertainty of what is best for them. Agents that offer caring, trusting relationships and technology that will allow the agent/customer trusting relationship to flourish will be successful. But agents must realise an online alternative may reflect the current trend to multi-channel sales but could become a direct competitor to their own business.

“Revamps that do not address these issues are doomed to failure.”
