Social Media and Bloggers  are busy especially at election in Seychelles and defamatory comments have often appeared in online articles.

Last week for the first time in Seychelles, Judge Crawford MaKee found someone guilty and awarded damages for a defamation case against a blogger. Two Opposition Leaders, namely Christopher Gill of Praslin was sued by Wavel Ramkalawan of Mahe for an online critic.
The post was made in October 2013. The Laws of Precedence in Seychelles has now set that defamation on Social Media is an offense and the award of Seychelles Rupees two hundred thousand made to Wavel Ramkalawan will be the reference case for libelous attacks made through online means.
