Katherine Jenkins Dazzles at British Airways’ Summer Garden Party to Celebrate 10 Years of Flying to Shanghai

British Airways celebrated its 10th anniversary of flights to Shanghai with a British summer garden party starring the award winning singer Katherine Jenkins OBE.

The event which brought a taste of the British summer season to Shanghai, also featured a performance from vocal group Jack Pack and a fashion show by Fenwick of Bond Street.

Katherine Jenkins, Britain’s leading mezzo-soprano singer, looked beautiful dressed in a navy floor-length gown as she sang classic songs Time to Say Goodbye and Hallelujah for the crowd. Katherine, who has performed for royalty and world leaders around the globe, said: “It’s an honour to be back in China with British Airways to celebrate 10 years of flights to this wonderful city. I love performing here in Shanghai, the audience is so receptive to British music.”

The party at The Langham Shanghai Xintiandi hotel kicked off with a live performance from British band Jack Pack, performing in China for the very first time. The modern four-piece swing vocal group performed unique versions of classic songs including Mack the Knife and Light My Fire. The finalists on the popular Britain’s Got Talent TV show, Jack Pack are releasing their debut album this year. The band embody the style of true British gentleman, Alfie from the group revealed the key to dressing with British flair: “Find a style that you are comfortable with and wear it well. Having a unique individual style is important and works as long as you wear it with confidence.”

Attending the event, British Airways’ executive chairman, Keith Williams said: “We are very proud to be celebrating 10 years of flights between Shanghai and London and showing off some of the renowned British style. Our vision is to become the airline of choice for Chinese customers travelling to Britain and Europe, and Shanghai plays an integral part in this plan. We look forward to many more years of flights to this great city.”

Guests at the event were wowed by a showcase of beautiful hats for the British summer season by iconic British department store, Fenwick of Bond Street, in partnership with Bond Street by Appointment, a bespoke service that provides tailored luxury experiences in the heart of London’s Mayfair. The quintessentially British fashion show was hosted by British award-winning celebrity milliner, Noel Stewart, who presented a collection of exclusive hat styles for the British social calendar including Wimbledon, Henley Royal Regatta and Royal Ascot. The show presented hats from internationally recognised British designers Stephen Jones, Vivien Sheriff, Jane Taylor, as well as host Noel Stewart, the models wore dresses from Goat, all available at Fenwick of Bond Street.

“The high season of the social calendar demands sartorial perfection, especially the latest fashionable headwear . Fenwick brings you the finest hat department in London with illustrious designers as famous as the store they stand in,” said milliner and fashion show host Noel Stewart.

British Airways offers daily direct flights from Shanghai to London. It is also the only airline to offer customers a choice of four cabins from Shanghai to London. Customers can choose from the airline’s highly acclaimed First, the award-winning Club World (business cabin), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and World Traveller (economy class).
