The Kenting Spring Wave Music and Art Festival will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The event organizer has invited more than 20 top musicians and groups to perform at the Hengchun Airport in Kenting on April 4th and 5th.

Popular stars include Jam Hsiao, Chen-Yue Chang, Della, and Joanna Wang, plus other hip hop and rock’n’roll groups will be performing on stage. In addition, there will be two parallel events, the Spring Wave Electronic Music Party and the Trendy Creative Market. The organizer welcomes everyone to experience music’s charms firsthand and expects Kenting to be thronged with tens of thousands of music fans.

The Kenting Spring Wave Music & Art Festival has taken place every April since 2006, becoming one of the most anticipated annual music events in Taiwan. Now a major component of the festival, the Spring Wave Award was first held in 2010. The competition covers both music creation and on-stage performance, with winners getting to perform on the Spring Wave stage that year. Attracting numerous musical artists, the competition’s scale grew rapidly from around 40 groups in 2006 to an impressive 207 groups in 2014. Participants seen are not only local, but also represent overseas areas such as Singapore and Hong Kong.

The Global Spring Wave Award, a new addition in 2014, attracts musicians from both home and abroad. This year the organizer has called for outstanding musicians from every country to compete for the award, with no age or occupation limits. Judging for the final round will be heavyweight musicians who include Luantan Ascent, Penny Dai, and noted music producer Yu Fen Ma. The top two performers will win time up on the Spring Wave stage.

Apart from the mainstream stages, the Spring Wave Electronic Music Party will be another important event of the festival, featuring world-renowned DJs Tenishia and Diego Miranda. Another attraction, the Trendy Creative Market, will bring together super trendy brands from all over the island and a special Spring Wave Trendy booth will collect and sell good-quality used products with profits donated to the Little Yellow Flower Education Foundation.
