The fifth annual Magical Kenya Travel Expo (MKTE), hosted by the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), has officially launched in Diani Beach on Kenya’s south coast.

For a group of lucky Australian buyers, their magical Kenya experience began a few days earlier with an exciting pre-famil, exploring Kenya’s spectacular open plains and famous game reserves.
The group of Aussie buyers experienced a combination of safari options, gaining a firsthand insight into Kenya’s diverse and new product offering, before heading over to the coast to attend this year’s MKTE.
Over the last five years, the expo has become an important and influential platform for tourism networking and business transactions, assisting in raising the profile of the destination within the tourism sector and showcasing that Kenya is well and truly open for business.
Pre-famil participants acknowledged MKTE for its valued role in providing a platform for Australian buyers to meet face-to-face with the Kenyan tourism industry and also see product firsthand so they know exactly what they are recommending to their clientele.
This is Africa state sales executive for New South Wales and South Australia, Ben Goshnick said “Kenya is home to the original safari and offers visitors unique wildlife experiences and landscapes like no other.
“The annual MKTE is a great opportunity for Aussie tourism buyers to stay up-to-date with Kenya’s diverse product offerings showcasing these key drawcards,” Goshnick said.
African Wildlife Safaris sales and marketing manager, Praful Albuquerque said “Kenya is a very special place and is the perfect safari destination for Australians wanting to see some of the most diverse game in Africa, including the big five, in a variety of habitats.
“MKTE plays an essential role in assisting us to continue to offer Aussies the best experiences available,” Albuquerque said.
MKTE is being held at the Leisure Lodge Resort and will run over three days and is expected to draw over 150 local and international travel agents, tour operators and media.
Throughout the trade days, delegates will be invited to engage in one-on-one meetings with a variety of suppliers, and learn how they can best utilise the offerings of the destination’s diverse product for their clientele.
