Khiri Voyages, the Thai outbound arm of Khiri Group, is offering wine weekends in Phnom Penh for Thailand residents who love great wine and dining at affordable prices in hip new locations.

Great wine at affordable prices in Phnom Penh

The trip to the vibrant Cambodian capital celebrates the rise of trendy wine and dining outlets such as the Fox wine bistro, the Red Apron, and La P’tite France. The area around Street 178 (Art Street) also offers an intriguing mix of art galleries, boutique shops, modern restaurants and silver shops.

“Phnom Penh is coming of age when it comes to cool places to enjoy wine, food and sounds from around the world,” said George van der Staal, General Manager of Khiri Voyages. “With shopping, nightlife and sightseeing in the mix, Phnom Penh is a great weekend destination to say ‘cheers’.”

Departing Bangkok at 5.10pm on a Friday evening, Khiri Voyages wine weekend guests will find themselves in the Fox wine bistro with its minimal contemporary design of concrete floors, pillars and upturned wine barrels just over two hours later. On the Saturday, night guests sample the Red Apron wine boutique, which offers 300 wine choices from around the world.

On the Sunday, guests go out for lunch at La P’tite France restaurant before visiting The Warehouse, Phnom Penh’s leading wine cellar with over 600 wines from around the world.

In between libations, guests on the Khiri Voyages trip can enjoy a cyclo tour of Phnom Penh which visits a 14th century stupa, the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and National Museum. There is a lunch at Friends Restaurant, which provides disadvantaged children an opportunity to gain first hand experience of the hospitality industry. Visitors also go to the Apsara Arts Association to see and try traditional Khmer dance steps. The trip includes a visit to Russian and Central Markets with their kaleidoscope of shopping bargains.

Khiri Voyages guests can opt to stay at either the Teahouse Hotel or the luxurious Raffles Le Royal Hotel.

Note: Foreign wines imported into Cambodia attract an import duty of 35% compared to a cumulative tax burden of over 300% in Thailand. Wine in retail outlets in Phnom Penh is more affordably priced than duty free shops at airports in the region. Guests are allowed to take a one-liter bottle back into Thailand.
