unnamed (29)Kingdom Property-sponsored sailors have achieved back-to-back successes in South Korea at the Asian Games and in Thailand at the Platu One Design Championship as the leading real estate developer on the Eastern Seaboard continues to raise the profile of the sport in the country and support young local sailors.

Olympic hopeful Thai sailor, Kamolwan ‘Bam’ Chanyim, claimed a bronze medal in sailing for Thailand at the 2014 Asian Games, her international training programme sponsored by Kingdom Property over the past year delivering results that impressed coaches, teammates and the region’s top sailors in her class.

Straight off a plane from the prestigious ISAF Sailing World Championships in Spain, she secured her place on the podium in South Korea with consistent early results, beating her Southeast Asian rivals and managing two second place finishes ahead of two Olympians and just behind world ranked number five sailor Dongshuang Zhang from China.

In Thailand last week, Kingdom Property took overall victory in the 2014 Platu One Design Championship held at Ocean Marina, Jomtien, Pattaya. The Platu Cup, the final regatta for the 2014 season, was lofted high by Phuket based sailor Scott Duncanson and his crew consisting of Alfie Rowson, Trent Pedersen, Tony Harman and Paul Burke winning with a 1st – 1st – 2nd -1st – (5th) -2nd score line for a total of 7 points.

Duncanson and crew were driven hard by Chris Way’s Easy Tiger from Sydney who’s crew included Jason Waterhouse, Australia’s representative and helmsman at last year’s Youth America’s Cup in San Francisco. Colin Symonds aboard Nataya brought his team all the way from the United Kingdom to compete and finish in 3rd place in only their second outing.

“We are delighted to continue to support sailing in Thailand and I’d like to congratulate both Bam and Scott and his team for their excellent achievements in very tough and high quality sailing competitions,” said Kingdom Property Chief Executive Officer, Nigel Cornick.

“There is tremendous talent among the young sailors in Thailand, seen by Bam’s ongoing success, who started and still trains at Royal Varuna Yacht Club – a stones throw from our Southpoint condominium project – and we are right behind her in her quest to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games in 2016,” he said.

“Pattaya offers superb sailing conditions and facilities – and an outdoors lifestyle and social scene that showcases a destination that is ideal for families looking to settle here, make an investment or enjoy vacations on the Eastern Seaboard.”

Kingdom Property recently unveiled a major new beachfront retail project called The Bay in Central Pattaya, phase one of a larger mixed-use vision that will be developed over the next five years encompassing hospitality and residential on a 23 rai site stretching from Beach Road to Second Road for a total project value of THB5 billion.

The Bay’s first phase will be a dining and leisure destination, offering 6,800 square metres (sqm) of retail leasing space over three stories along 100 metres of Beach Road frontage with a ground floor plaza area of 1,800-sqm providing space for events, festivals and concerts. Construction of phase one will commence in November and will be complete by Q4 2015.

The Bay is Kingdom Property’s second project on the Eastern Seaboard, following on from the upscale 672-unit Southpoint condominium on Pratumnak Hill, featuring two towers of 30 and 20 storeys, the tallest of which was ‘topped off’ recently. Southpoint will transfer to buyers in the fourth quarter of next year.
