In her new memoir “Unlocking the Keys: Ancient Wisdom, Modern Mystery and a Kiwi Traveller” (published by Balboa Press) author Vicky Cavanagh-Hodge combines the wonder of travel with a powerful statement about listening to the voice within.

“Unlocking the Keys” is an upbeat and meaningful story of a Kiwi healer and teacher on a two-year global sojourn with her husband, a journey entailing gunfire in Egypt, rice farming in Japan and saving turtles in Greece. Cavanagh-Hodge’s book is a travel memoir but also much more. “It is written in a way that allows the reader to go on their own journey of discovery. As the title suggests, the book is about unlocking the keys – what the reader will discover, is up to them.”

An excerpt from “Unlocking the Keys”:

“I’ve always said travel has three stages of enjoyment. First, there’s the pleasure of planning it: perusing maps, scouring the Internet, and poring through the brochures. Second is actually being there: living the dream, smelling the air, hearing the sounds, and getting up close and personal. Finally, there is the enjoyment that only comes with reflection: the looking back and the remembering. Sometimes I think that’s the best part, reliving the moments that have captured your heart and understanding how they have changed you.”

“This book makes you feel good,” Cavanagh-Hodge says. “It invites you to go deeper into yourself and reawaken forgotten dreams – and that’s a journey we can all take.”
