With this solution, Korean Air will benefit from access to MIDT (Marketing Information Data Tapes) data, one of the most timely and comprehensive data sources available to airlines for market analysis. This passenger air booking data delivers insights into the booking agent, booking date, flight number, flight date, class of service, origin, destination, etc. MIDT data covers bookings made through global distribution systems (GDS).

Korean Air has also implemented Travelport’s Airline Insight analytical tool. This intuitive tool is designed to easily satisfy the informational and analytical needs of professionals in the key airline disciplines of Network Planning, Pricing and Revenue Management, as well as Agency Sales. With this tool, the timely and factual intelligence obtained from MIDT data gives Korean Air a critical ability to recognize market trends, respond to time-sensitive challenges, and target its valuable sales resources in the most effective manner at revenue opportunities in their environment.

This announcement follows Korean Air’s announcement in November 2018 of a major organizational strategy to overhaul its entire IT infrastructure. The airline is now at full gear to gain value from cutting-edge technologies including big data analytics, cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and Internet of Things (IoT).
