Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong Offers Diners August Delights

Nadaman KaisekiKowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong celebrates mid-summer with a host of new tempting delights and special culinary experiences at Angelini, Café Kool, Nadaman, Shang Palace and Déli Kool.

Osakan Favourite Okonomiyaki at Nadaman

Throughout August, Nadaman presents Okonomiyaki, an Osakan savoury-style pancake, made using Chef Fat’s secret recipe.  Crispy on the outside and soft inside, the pancake is available in six varieties.

Menu highlights include Miyasaki Gyu Modan-Yaki (Miyasaki Wagyu Beef, Sakura-Ebi Shrimp, Fried Noodles, Cabbage, Spring Onion, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes), Ise-Ebi Kaisen Mix-Ten (Lobster, Scallop, Squid, Cabbage, Spring Onion, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes), Kaisen Mix-Ten (Prawn, Scallop, Squid, Cabbage, Red Ginger, Spring Onion, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes), Modan-Yaki (Pork Belly, Sakura-Ebi Shrimp, Fried Noodles, Cabbage, Spring Onion, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes), Hotate-Ten (Scallop, Sakura-Ebi Shrimp, Potato, Cabbage, Red Ginger, Spring Onion, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes) and Buta-Ten (Pork Belly, Sakura-Ebi Shrimp, Cabbage, Red Ginger, Spring Onion, Carrot, Seaweed Powder and Bonito Flakes).

Kakyu Kaiseki at Nadaman

Together with other Nadaman restaurants in the world, Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong’s Nadaman introduces an authentic Kakyu Kaiseki featuring seasonal produce – hamo pike eel and matsutake mushrooms.

Menu highlights include Hamo Pike Eel Sushi with Sansho Pepper and Pickled Myoga Ginger, Matsutake Mushroom Clear Soup with Egg Tofu and Junsai Vegetables, Steamed Goose Liver Custard with Crab Meat Sauce, Deep-Fried Hamo Pike Eel with Plum Meat and Shiso Leaves, Hamo Pike Eel Ochatsuke with Myoga Ginger, Oba Leaves and Seaweed and more.  All are available from 1 August to 30 September 2016.

Worthy Earthy Porcini at Angelini

Between 10 August and 20 September 2016, Chef Alessandro presents a five-course set dinner menu showcasing porcini mushrooms sourced straight from the Italian mountains.  The set menu is priced at HK$880 per person.

Menu highlights include Crab, Green Beans, Porcini and Consommé, Liquid Rice with Porcini, Home-Made Chitarrini, White Italian Sausage Ragu and Porcini, Pan-Fried Skate Wings, Butter Cream, Porcini and Dill Oil, Beef Tenderloin, Spelt Cake, Roasted Porcini and Celeriac Cream, and Apple Strudel.

Sustainable Seafood at Shang Palace

To support the environment, Chef Mok brings diners the freshest sustainable catch, including giant garoupa and flathead mullet, from a local fish farm this August.

Menu highlights include Sautéed Sustainable Giant Garoupa Fillet with Dried Mandarin Peel, Stewed Sustainable Giant Garoupa with Spring Onion and Garlic served in a Clay Pot, Deep-Fried Sustainable Giant Garoupa Fillet with Minced Pork and Bean Curd in Sichuan Style, Oven-Baked Flathead Mullet with Salt, Steamed Flathead Mullet with Homemade Yanmin Sauce and Dried Chinese Pear and more.

Feast on Oysters at Café Kool

From 8 to 21 August 2016, oyster is under the spotlight at Café Kool’s dinner buffet.  Diners may choose from an array of fresh oysters, starters, soup and hot dishes, all prepared à la minute.

The selection of fresh oysters includes huitre tatihou, special de cancale, fine de claire and fine de bretagne.  Other menu highlights include Chardonnay and Champagne-Vinegar-Poached Oyster and Green Asparagus Salad, Dashi-Poached Oyster and Vodka-Soy Shooter, Oyster Cream Soup with Saffron and Pernod, Oyster Maki Roll with Avocado and Mango, Grilled Oyster, Pan-Fried Oyster and Black Truffle, Thai-Style Oyster and Fish Cake with Sweet-and-Sour Cucumber Dip and more.

Mango Napoleon at Déli Kool

Between 1 and 31 August 2016, Chef Thomas delights those with a sweet tooth with Mango Napoleon Cake, a layered cake of caramelised puff sheets, smooth vanilla cream and fresh mangoes decorated with additional mangoes.  The 1.5-lb cake is priced at HK$300 only.
