Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “The Krabi-Enlive Sea Kayak Thailand Championship and Sea Kayak Asian Cup have been organised not only as a way for canoeing and water enthusiasts to showcase their skills, but also to raise awareness of ecotourism and to help cultivate a culture of sustainable tourism in Krabi. These fun events are helping to reaffirm Krabi’s commitment to encouraging tourism which does not harm the natural wonders of the land and sea.”

Kayaking has long been a great and environmentally-friendly way to explore the offshore wonders of Krabi, and the sport has been growing here for several years. As well as the sea kayak competition, there will be other eco-friendly activities for tourists to experience.

Visitors to Krabi will find a wide range of activities; such as, scuba diving, rock climbing, canoeing, sea kayaking, cycling, and community-based tourism, as well as the lovely natural environment itself to enjoy. Tourists will get the chance to release sea turtles, sea crabs and marine creatures into the Andaman, under the direction of the Department of Fisheries.

Krabi is seen as one of the world’s best natural tourist destinations thanks to its pristine environment and beauty, with over 160 kilometres of coastline along the crystal waters of the Andaman Sea and 154 lush green offshore islands.

TAT, the local authorities and local communities of Krabi are well aware that to preserve Krabi’s natural charm and ensure that travellers from all over the world keep coming back, it is pivotal to protect the local environment both on land and below the waves.

Mr. Thawatchai said, “This is why the concept of sustainability or ecotourism is a top priority and any tourism activities which are clean, green, non-polluting and sustainable are always encouraged and promoted.”
