LA LISTE has unveiled its list of the world’s top 1,000 restaurants for 2017 at a glittering ceremony in Paris last week.

27 of Australia’s top restaurants made the list. Using an algorithm cross-referencing over 550 specialised publications and food critics, LA LISTE focuses on the crème de la crème of international gastronomy.

Topping LA LISTE this year for the second consecutive year was renowned French restaurant, Guy Savoy Paris, scoring 99.75 out of a possible 100%.

LA LISTE is based on the compilation of hundreds of guidebooks and millions of online reviews including established guides (e.g. Michelin), prestigious newspapers (e.g. New York Times) and more other influential sources such as Yelp and TripAdvisor.

Driven by an international team of food experts under the guidance of founder, Philippe Faure, LA LISTE is the ultimate representation of international opinion leaders. Faure, previously CEO of restaurant guide Gault & Millau, founded the list after being inspired by “meta-rankings” to produce the most reliable scoring of the world’s best culinary offerings. France’s Foreign Ministry and national tourism board Atout France endorsed LA LISTE in 2015.

The integration of more than 150 new international sources has resulted in a better geographic representation including a stronger representation for Australia.

Victoria’s Attica leads the pack as Australia’s top scoring restaurant with an overall score of 98.25% out of 100 and number 39 in the world, with fellow Victorian restaurants Brae and Vue de Monde following close behind at 97.50%.

Other top Australian restaurants that featured were: Sydney’s Sepia (97.00%), The Bridge Room (96.75%), Quay (95.5%) and Momofuku Press contact Atout France Marc Humphries – marc.humphries@atout-france.fr
Seiobo (89.00%) as well as Adelaide’s Orana (90.00%), Brisbane’s Esquire (85.75%) and Melbourne’s Cutler & Co (85.50%).
