LAN introduces special boarding passes for smartphones

LAN Airlines has introduced a new system of electronic boarding passes for smartphones. This technology is now available for most domestic and regional LAN routes when checking in at LAN.com.

It replaces the printed boarding passes, giving passengers the option to send their boarding passes to their mobile phones, simplifying the check-in process.unnamed (6)

Passengers travelling with baggage should still go to the LAN airport counters and show the electronic boarding pass on their mobile device. While those travelling with only carry-on luggage may proceed directly to the boarding gate for their flight, presenting their electronic boarding pass on their mobile phone at the security and immigration check points.

“Taking into account that around 77 per cent of people flying in Chile with LAN check in on LAN.com, this system for smartphones is an extremely useful tool for our passengers. It will save us all time and importantly it will save paper,” said Eli Senerman, Director of Channels and LAN.com.

“Undoubtedly, mobile platforms are a rising trend and we are working to develop new tools that allow the user a better experience when travelling,” he added.

To get an electronic boarding pass, passengers must be able to access their e-mail on their mobile device to ensure the mobile check-in process is possible once at the airport.
