LAN, a member of LATAM Airlines Group, was named as the company of the year for e-commerce in the eCommerce Awards LATAM 2016 in the tourist industry category for the successful management of its website, LAN.com.
The awards aim to recognize companies for good practice and their contribution to developing the digital economy in each country in the region.
“Our digital products represent an increasingly important part of our passengers´ travel experience, which is why it is a priority to continue to develop this area. Today, our clients can purchase tickets easily via our digital platforms as well as check-in, review flight statuses, redeem kilometers and much more,” said Eli Senerman, Digital Director, LATAM.
The executive added that the company is continually evaluating passengers’ needs to tailor the travel experience through digital improvements: “An important step was the launch of LAN.com Mobile, which enables users to access key services from their cell phones to facilitate the start of their journeys such as reviewing flight statuses and checking-in.”
The ‘Flight Status’ feature of LAN.com not only offers up-to-date departure and arrival times of LAN and TAM flights for the previous day, the same day and up to 72 hours in advance, it also possible to set-up mobile and email alerts for flight changes.
Currently, more than 30% of passenger check-in via LAN.com mobile and over 620,000 users visit LAN.com per day.
The ceremony is led by the Instituto Latinoamericano de Comercio Electrónico (Latin American Insitute of E-Commerce) and the winners of the eCommerce Awards, part of the Tour Regional eCommerce Day, competed to be voted the best in their respective categories in Latin America.
