egtmedia59Larry Ellison’s Lanai Resorts LLC has been renamed Pulama Lanai, which means “to cherish,” or “to treasure” Lanai, according to a source close to the company.

The company also unveiled a new website and logo and said that the new name, expresses the deep sense of stewardship we feel for the island and the spirit that will guide endeavors that reach far beyond our resorts.”

Pulama Lanai also has added three new members to its leadership team: Ralph Masuda, vice president of planning and zoning; Randall Ishikawa, general counsel; and Ed Jensen, vice president of operations.

Masuda is responsible for overseeing the planning and zoning process for all of the company’s initiatives. Before joining Pulama Lanai, he was vice president of planning and zoning for Castle & Cooke Resorts.

Ishikawa is responsible for providing legal and other counsel for the company. Before this, he was the associate general counsel in the University of Hawaii’s Office of the University General Counsel.

Jensen, who before joining Pulama Lanai, worked for a decade for Jozu, an Ellison-owned firm in California. He will now be focusing on overseeing and managing a variety of initiatives on Lanai.

Kurt Matsumoto, chief operating officer of Pulama Lanai, appearing on a video posted on website, said: “Our vision for Lanai is to have an island that is very vibrant, self-sustaining and just one of the most desirable places in the world to live.”

“It’s not just focused on a product, it’s not just focused on one type of industry, it’s a really broad scope, talking about education, healthcare, conservation, building new homes and thinking about ways to make it more affordable, growing food for the island, these are all things,” he said.
