Taste of Hong Kong presented by Standard Chartered is now open, celebrating Hong Kong’s latest, greatest and hottest restaurants until 19 March at Central Harbourfront. Following on an exceptionally successful inaugural year, the festival is back 25% bigger with a chance to discover, indulge and socialise with tastings, cooking demonstrations, masterclasses, music and lounges. There are 5 sessions left to enjoy over the next three days: Friday afternoon, evening, Saturday afternoon, evening and Sunday afternoon. Tickets are available through Ticketflap from HKD138.
Last night’s Opening Night kicked off with the “Best In Taste” Awards, an integral part of the global Taste Festivals line-up, a distinguished judging panel of food influencers; Debbie Wong of Food Network, Alicia Walker of Foodie, renowned food critic Walter Kei, Charmaine Mok of Hong Kong Tatler, Bernice Chan of South China Morning Post and visiting chef Nick Kim form New York restaurant Shuko; tried a dish from each participating restaurant and selected the not-to-be-missed culinary highlights at Taste of Hong Kong – Miyazaki Beef with Kyushu Red Cabbage and Dulse Slaw, Pepper Berry Béarnaise from Amber was crowned Best in Taste.

At Taste of Hong Kong, foodies have the opportunity to build their dream menu from the best restaurants the city has to offer. This year, there are 10 Michelin stared restaurants on the line-up. Dishes on the menu, including some exciting festival exclusives, are from Amber, Arcane, Café Gray Deluxe, CHINO, Duddell’s, Kaum at Potato Head, Mercato, Okra, Rhoda, RONIN, Serge et Le Phoque, Tin Lung Heen, Tosca, Yardbird and ZUMA, and visiting Kei Restaurant brought to you by Taste the World with Etihad Airways, all the way from Paris.
Sip, sample and shop
With over 60+ producers offering a range of premium food and beverages at the Gourmet Market, guests can venture out for cheese to pair with fine wine, mouth-watering chocolate to share with friends, deliciously naughty ice cream toppings and more. Additionally, the Foodie Market curated by Foodie Magazine is a one-stop shop that will showcase a collection of 12 hand-picked producers sampling and selling their wares.
Tips and tricks
Guests can pick up handy tips and tricks of the trade with live cooking demonstrations at the Porsche Taste Theatre in association with Food Network, and hear personally from top chefs and influencers as they share their opinions and discuss food and drink trends at theHong Kong #TatlerTable hosted by Hong Kong Tatler.
More than just food
Diners can sample dishes from all participating restaurants, grab a unique drink and join masterclasses that cover topics such as champagne and caviar, wine and cheese, craft beer and coffee. Options include visiting Brooklyn Brewery Activation, illy Coffee University, La Cabane Natural Wine & Cheese Bar, Laurent-Perrier Champagne Bar and the Marriott Studio.

Taste the World
Etihad Airways returns to Taste of Hong Kong with their Taste the World initiative, designed to promote their talented inflight chefs from around the world alongside culinary stars from Hong Kong.
Participating chefs from Taste of Hong Kong this weekend will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a bid to be named a Taste the World winner. Each dish in the competition will be judged by an independent panel including an Etihad Airways chef, Taste Festival expert and local food influencer. The winner of the Taste the World Hong Kong competition will receive return flight with Etihad Airways to compete at Taste of Abu Dhabi in November where the 2017 Taste the World award will be presented to the chef who best epitomizes Etihad’s food philosophy.
