Each year, Le Méridien Taipei expands its horizon with “A New Perspective” global brand event, celebrating its core value “Chic, Cultured, Discovery”. In 2015, the lobby lounge Latitude 25 transforms the beloved jewelry box afternoon tea into a glamorous Eiffel Tower tea set. The elegant and simple sculpted form of Eiffel Tower harmonizes perfectly with the French soul of Le Méridien brand, together showcasing the art of living at Latitude 25’s naturally lit and spacious atmosphere.
Inspired by this season’s couture runway, Head Pastry Head Leo Lee instills elements such as blue and white sailor stripes, romantic lacing details and light color palettes into his desserts, creating a charming afternoon scene mimicking the life and joy seen at the Tuileries Garden.
AN AMUSING SPARKLING MIX
Begin the afternoon with a gastronomic sparkling mix, “Summer Dazzle”, pairing tanginess of grapefruit, slightly bitter sweet taste of green tea, and dulcet flavor of honey, with Schweppes soda water. Refreshing and exciting, it is an amusing eye-opener for the season.

Following traditional English afternoon tea service, guests are first served with delectable savories. Head Chef Nick Lee of Latitude 25 pulls in culinary ideas from the U.S., Italy and Mexico to create a collection of exquisite savory bites. First introducing the “Lobster Sandwich”, toasted buttered buns laden with Boston lobster and classic pairing of horseradish sauce and tomato based cocktail sauce. For an Italian delight, “Peach and Ham Bruschetta” is candied peach with prosciutto, dressed with arugula. “Chicken, Avocado and Mango Sandwich” is a summer treat drizzled with freshly made Mexican salsa sauce. For a palette cleansing intermezzo, indulge in a serving of “Basil Sherbet with Cheese and Tomato”, an exciting yet calming pairing of basil, tomato marinated in plum juice and buffalo mozzarella.
In celebrating excellent service at Latitude 25, the three savory items are freshly made and served tableside. Guests are welcome to put in second orders for their favorite savory items.

For an exquisite collection of desserts, Head Pastry Chef Leo Lee draws inspiration from summer trends. The “Frangelico Chocolate Truffle” bears the classic sailor stripes, with Frangelico liqueur infused Guanaja 70% chocolate filling covered in chocolate crunch, and vanilla custard as base, a decadent and smooth blend. “Mango Pudding with Passion Fruit Jelly”, bursting sunshine yellow, is a romantic piece with a floral deco on the tip and white chocolate lacing details. “Peach Mousse with Herb Umeshu Jelly”, showcasing Le Méridien’s new brand color, is a creative gastronomic piece with light and dulcet tastes. “Strawberry Mascarpone Trifle ” with summer colors of red, green and white, has an almond biscuit base layered with mint infused mascarpone cheese and fresh strawberry sauce and decorated with candied strawberry from Dahu, Taiwan. “Rum Pineapple Tarte Tartin” is made of fresh Pineapple from Guanmiao, Taiwan sauteed with rum, sweet and tart with an alluring aroma. “Fresh Fig Tarte” is draped with fresh figs and paired with vanilla custard base. “Lemon Green Tea Mill Feuille”, a rich matcha cheese flavored rich pastry, is made of fresh lemon filling, finished off with wavy vanilla chantilly piping, showcasing the chef’s ideal relaxing nautical theme.
