Laucala Island, an exclusive private island paradise set in the Fijian Pacific archipelago, is thrilled to unveil a stylish interior makeover.

Lynne Hunt London, who has worked on the resort’s initial design and launched a decade ago, was thrilled to work with the resort again to style the interior to match the stunning flora and fauna of their idyllic Fijian environment.

“The design for Laucala is unique and we wanted to maintain that aesthetic but bring in some contemporary and interesting design details,” says Hunt. “Proportions were played with typical Laucala styling, oversize pots and day beds that provide the ultimate luxury and escape. Quirky and unique pieces of furniture were sourced, or custom designed from South East Asia, along with custom printed vintage style pacific art fabrics in custom colors from Australia”.

Comfort is of huge importance to guests at Laucala Island, so they created lagoon pool canopy structures with soft swaying draperies in a soft shade of blue that complements the lagoon itself. Accompanying the canopy structures are oversized beach beds with soft, comforting fabrics printed with vintage style pacific prints in soft shades of blue and yellow.

Laucala Island’s restaurants are all unique, each with its own identity enhanced by their special locations and design.

The Beach bar offers guests a casual dining experience and new additions include sunken beach seating areas with fire pits on the beach to enjoy a sun downer cocktail, whilst watching the sunset.

The seating areas are in shades of the sun with a bitter orange and a chocolate brown shadow.  The fabrics used have exotic print of the abundant flora on the island and a chill out zones have also been introduced around the perimeter of the lagoon for guests to enjoy a casual lounge style dining experience.

Beach Bar has also introduced a wood-fired Pizza oven in addition to the light international and local cuisine choices on offer in a casual and relaxed beachfront setting.

Perched on top of a hill and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the Rock Lounge is the perfect location to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or cocktail. Here Lynne Hunt London have introduced huge teardrop pendant lights with a red lighting hue, comfortable organic shaped sofas to relax along with stone stools, root tree coffee tables, and chairs, stone tables and wicker chairs, all complemented with large scale stone lanterns, to enhance this unique destination bar experience

The Seagrass Restaurant is entered by a meandering bridge which has a sisal runner and is lit by tiki torches along the entranceway.          Guests are greeted with a display table with contorted teak bowls and baskets with the lower lounge having casual seating and custom Yin & Yang beds overlooking the ocean, where they can experience the new lounge dining concept enjoying delicious Pan-Asian tapas and cocktails at sunset or under the starry moonlit skies.

Oversized pots with banana plants enhance the space and a large low table behind the beds, house lanterns and a large display of flowers and fruit.

The upper terrace is for dining and the stylish armchairs are made of wicker with a contemporary tapa style fabric as a cushion. The color scheme is a combination of jungle green with teal and corn silk yellow, the attention to detail extends to the table top with organic style plates in yellow, deep aqua and chocolate. The lighting is unique with various styles in wicker to create an intimate dining experience.

The Pool Bar at Laucala has also undergone a soft transformation, with natural wicker armchairs, teak tables, oversized pots and beautiful lanterns with floating candles.

The Villas themselves have also had some new additions, again the individual Laucala Island style exterior canopies with oversized day beds have been added to each villa along the private beaches and decks. Other additions include new bar trays with new glassware, playful wicker armchairs and wicker artwork panels which enhance the bedrooms and new soft organic shaped rugs to compliment the new fabrics. Enhanced lighting to all areas has been introduced to create a soft and inviting ambient mood and guest experience.

With its overwhelming natural beauty, Laucala Island is the ultimate South Pacific hideaway with a unique and original design aesthetic, which enthralls all the senses.
