Lavasa City entertained 50,000 plus music lovers, food connoisseurs and weekenders attending the FREEDOM 2014 Festival from 15 August to 17 August 2014.  Live musical programs spanned from classical to hard rock and folk to fusion, special flea market and culinary experiences added to the experience.

Nathan Andrews, President and CEO, Lavasa Corporation said: “The diverse genres of music, dance, art, culinary classes and events enthralled the audience. We look forward to bring more such interactive and engaging programs in future. It has always been our continuous endeavor to make Lavasa City a preferred tourist destination”.

Under new urbanism, Lavasa is planned to have five new adjoining cities at the foothills of Sahyadri Mountains and to provide opportunities for its residents and visitors to live, work, learn and play in harmony with nature.

Dasave, the first city is now operational.  Duggal said: “In Dasave, champion is the Lavasa International Convention Centre (LICC) with a capacity of 1500 people. It’s the nerve centre of the city’s happenings and generates business for the three existing hotels and three more opening next year. Travel agents contribute about 40 percent business for us.”

Fortune Select Dasve, Mercure, Waterfront Shaw and 40 Swiss tents, together have 700 rooms at Dasave. An ARR (Average Room Rate) of $ 80 (Rs 4800) and a 72 percent average occupancy rate makes it a competent city in India. Novotel (200 rooms), Holiday Inn (120) and Formula 1(145) are getting ready.

Duggal said: “Many Bollywood films are shot here. Ease of operation with single window clearances and facility for night shoot make it ideal.”

Theme parks and sports will be the highlights at the second city Mugaon, scheduled to be ready in three years.

Duggal said: “A huge theme park spread on 256 acres will be managed by an American theme park company. There’ll be many international standard sports training facilities including Hockey Australia.”

Third city Damanhole will sport a Nick Faldo Golf city with an 18 hole course.

Adventure sports like rappelling, ATV rides, pin ball, zip line, archery, paintball are available at Xthrill thrills near the Swiss tents.

Duggal said: “We’ll introduce four seater ATVs for rides to Bombay point (20 kms), where one can see Mumbai skyscrapers from the mountain tip. Raft building and then floating it, is popular with corporate teambuilding.”

Segway, including the modified Fat Boys for moving up the mountains, waterfalls safari, largest splash pad at the waters ports facility and a 7000 square feet indoor golf facility that simulates 25 best courses in the world are some of the new attractions at Lavasa. A half open hop-on-hop off bus plies to different attractions in the city. Two more of those will be added by November, the same time when the seaplane services from Mumbai to Lavasa will also launch services.
