Passion Fruit ReligieusePlayful Yet Elegant

Introduced in 2001, “Marc by Marc Jacobs” has a brand portfolio that now includes menswear, women’s wear, shoe collections, accessories, fragrances and much more. The design concept for this year’s spring and fall season is staged between the 20’s and 80’s. A fusion of Western street culture and French elegance can be seen in the designs, demonstrating a co-existing statement of youth and cosmopolitanism.

“Chic, Cultured, Discovery” is the core of Le Méridien Taipei. Every year, “A New Perspective” events happen all around the world at Le Méridien hotels. It is a global branding event that promotes collaboration between artists from diverse fields, with the goal to inspire guests. This year, Le Méridien Taipei has especially invited Marc by Marc Jacobs to collaborate in an innovative afternoon tea collection. Head Pastry Chef Leo and award-winning Sous chef, Chris presents a collection of fashion inspired desserts.

A sparkling opening

Red Wine Pear TartTo welcome the passionate seasons of spring and summer, an elegant sparkling cocktail, “Dazzling Citrus”, is an excellent starter. A concoction of grapefruit and Chandon Brut N.V Champagne, it is refreshing with an underlying surprising taste of rose. A mix with Schweppes soda water is also available. While sipping on this sparkling creation, exquisite savoury treats are also ready for you to enjoy. Three savouries include the appetizing “Grilled Ham, Apple and Cheese Sandwich”, the fresh “Smoked Salmon Roll with Avruga Caviar” and the Japanese-style “Shrimp Roll with Perilla”.

A Fusion Taste of Creativity

SPARKLING DRINKS AND SAVORY ITEMSAs couture pieces from runways are transported onto tea stands, they have become not only impressive in visuals but also in taste. The most eye-catching dessert must be the “Marchive Chocolate Cake”, which is a miniature version of the new Marchive bag. Crafted with fondant and wrapped around the 70% Guanaja chocolate cake filling, it is a perfect balance of bitter and sweet. The “Smoked Sesame Macaron”, which boasts a vintage pattern inspired by a dress in women’s wear, is a unique blend of local Taiwanese sesame with dark and white chocolate. Resembling the star pattern widely used on clothing designs, “Pistachio Scone” gives the classic treat a twist in flavour and style.

Strawberry ÉclairFor the spring and summer look, Marc by Marc Jacobs uses vivid elements like animal and flower prints to portray the season’s lively spirit. While the zesty “Passion Fruit Religieuse” elegantly wears the iconic Daisy flower, the “Violet Tart” showcases the golden ladybug seen on accessories resting on exquisite cocoa petals. Made with a blend of fruit juices, “Cocktail Guimauve” has an aromatic and delicate taste, and is playfully wrapped with rabbit patterns printed on rice papers.

Sweets Couture x Resplendent Jewelry Afternoon TeaInspired by the fluorescent lightening accessory, the pastry team incorporates this element into ChocoArt’s most popular item- “Strawberry Éclair”. Together with its dried strawberries and cheese filling, and plum red chocolate lightening, this splendid treat will definitely strike your taste buds. “Wine Pear Tart” wears a golden ‘marc’; the pear must be soaked in Spanish red wine for two days, which gives it a full flavour that perfectly pairs with the creamy custard tart filling.

Indulge in French Tea

SWEETS COUTURETo compliment the delightful treats, Latitude 25 also offers tea by French gourmet tea company- Mariage Frères. Highly acclaimed tea blends include “Five O’clock”, “Grey French Blue”, “Casablanca” and “Rouge Provence” with a black tea base; and “The A L’opera”, “De-Stress” and “Veranda” with a green tea base. Four selections of illy coffee, which is brewed with an excellent ratio of 50 Arabica coffee beans, are also served. Indulge in exquisite sweets and savouries while sipping French tea or a cup of Italian coffee; it is a splendid afternoon indeed.
