Le PaSSAGE Mohkan Shan: Book Early For Winter

Le Passage Mohkan Shan, a French luxury country house hotel, gourmet restaurant and tea plantation is gearing up for winter with Early-Bird rates available on bookings from November 1, 2014 until February 28, 2015.

Nestled among the bamboo forests of Moganshan in China’s Zhejiang Province, a 2-and-a-half hour drive from Shanghai, Le Passage Mohkan Shan is offering percentage discounts on bookings of one- to four-nights if booked ahead of October 31st 2014.

The further into the future guests plan, the further discounts guests can receive. If guests stay for four nights in February 2015 for example, a Deluxe Room (published price RMB 3,200) is only RMB 1,760 per night, that’s RMB 880 per person, a saving of 45 percent, and RMB 5,760 across the four nights. Discounts throughout winter are available across all seven room categories and all 40 rooms, including the newly developed Le Passage Villa housing five Garden and five Super Garden rooms. Prices start at RMB 3,200 for Deluxe Rooms (minimum two-night stay) with double occupancy and go up to RMB 5,900 for the Super Mezzanine Suites that can house a whole family of two adults and two children. Winter Celebrations with Le Passage Mohkan Shan

The months of winter in Moganshan are when the mountain is at its most spectacular. Often covered in snow, the area becomes a winter wonderland of nature and activity, with hiking trails and sledging in the pine and bamboo forests a treat for the whole family. Back at Le Passage Mohkan Shan, at the heart of the hotel is the year-round heated spring water pool for guests to relax and escape whatever the weather, set at 32°C. Inside, wood fired stoves, central heating, floor-heated bathrooms and warm and cozy interiors offer a unique escape from the outdoors.

This winter will also see a series of activities in the hotel including regular visits form Santa Claus throughout December, chocolates and gifts, five Christmas Trees all from Denmark spread throughout the hotel, regular outdoor bonfires, fireworks and a series of special celebrations throughout Christmas and Chinese New Year.

Now an established gourmet destination in China, food is at the very center of every visit to Le Passage Mohkan Shan and is open to hotel guests and outside reservations. Every Saturday and Sunday in December, Executive Head Chef Jackie Chen is creating a Festive French 5-Course Dinner and Classic English Christmas Lunch giving  guests the chance to celebrate in style.

Crabs, oysters, lobsters and seafood are all imported weekly from France, while Le Passage Mohkan Shan’s menus feature fruits and vegetables collected daily from the local organic farm. Throughout the year, Moganshan is awash with seasonal fruits and vegetables such as pumpkins, beetroots, strawberries, pear, peaches and asparagus which are all integrated into the dishes.

The Pool Restaurant serves rustic country cuisine throughout the day, including breakfast, and has a wooden patio that stretches out to kiss the outdoor swimming pool. On an evening, classic cocktails and wines from the extensive list of bio-dynamic French wines in the Wine Cellar are available in the Lounge Bar and Fireside Salon.

Creative private dining spaces are dotted throughout the property. The two Pool Pavilions offer private dining for up to eight or 20 people, while the underground authentic Wine Cellar Dining Room offers a truly unique dining experience for up to 40 people on a long table carved from a single piece of wood.

The French Cooking School at Le Passage Mohkan Shan offers an opportunity for guests to learn more about French and Western cuisine. With space for up to eight people, it is ideal for families and friends this winter with seasonally themed courses for beginners to advanced cooks and include learning the art of cooking Terrine De Foie Gras and Chocolate Fondants.

Located 2.5 hours from Shanghai and 1 hour from Hangzhou, Le Passage Mohkan Shan is easily accessible from Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao International Airports, as well as Hangzhou and Deqing high-speed train stations.
