egtmedia59For those of us that travel around the world, which is awash with free WiFi, it is very frustrating when we return to Australia to find many hotels still milking their clients by charging for internet access.

The great news is that the message that clients want and now even expect free internet is getting through, with late last year Crown Hotels announcing that free WiFi was available for all guests nationwide with no strings attached, from December 21, 2013.

Crown Metropol MelbourneIn a very refreshing approach, which is bound to be very popular with their clients, Crown also says that there are no special sign ups, restrictions or club memberships required, with free WiFi now available to Crown’s visitors across all five properties, Crown Towers, Metropol Melbourne, Metropol Perth, Promenade Melbourne and Promenade Perth.

All Crown guests who have booked accommodation or even a spa treatment will be able to log on and enjoy complimentary access for up to two devices, with Crown saying that this technological offering further cements Crown’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading hotel groups.

…..’milking their clients’….. that’s a bit harsh……the crown group of hotels are at higher end and unlike the lower star rating properties they can afford to offer free wifi…..lower star rated properties are considered low cost accommodation and like low cost airlines, they too have to charge for ancillaries….

Yay …. its about time a major group has taken the lead. Agree just returned from O/S was surprised to how Wifi is treated just like power and running water. Its just the norm.
