Throughout the month of May, LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort will be extending the festivities at the Park with the LEGO® Star Wars™ month where fans and families alike can indulge in their love of Star Wars™. Visitors will be able to participate in activities that include building LEGO Star Wars™ Microfighters, putting together a LEGO Star Wars™ Mosaic mural and capturing their LEGOLAND memories at the special LEGO Star Wars™ photo wall. Over at the LEGO Mindstorm Centre, guests can also watch LEGO Star Wars™ movies and take part in LEGO Star Wars™ themed workshops.
On Monday, celebrations for May the Fourth started with an Imperial March led by the 501st Legion Malaysia Outpost and Star Wars™ Malaysia Alliance members dressed in their favourite characters from the famous movie franchise.
This year, the first 500 fans dressed in their best Star Wars™ outfits that visited the Park also walked away with a special goodie bag containing a LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort shopping voucher* worth RM100, an exclusive LEGO Star Wars™ Stormtrooper Sergeant Minifigure, LEGO Star Wars™ Microfighter set and special LEGO Star Wars™ keychains.
During the weekend celebrations, winners of the various categories for the four-month long Star Wars™ themed LEGO My Own Creation (MOC) competition were also announced. Earlier in the months of January to March, LOM (LUG of Malaysia), a leading LEGO fan group in Malaysia, held a competition where LEGO and Star Wars™ fans all over Asia were invited to submit their Star Wars™ themed LEGO model creations. The top winning creations are currently displayed at selected locations in the Park until August 2015.
The competition, which saw more than 60 submissions from fans across Asia, included two winning entries from Singapore. Daniel Ku was announced as the runner-up winner for the Kidz category and Titans Creations, a group of 6 fans, nabbed the runner-up position of the Masters category.
“The Resort is delighted to celebrate LEGO Star Wars Days throughout the month of May with more fanfare than before. The LEGO fans truly added a special touch with the various activities for the Park visitors. The celebrations will continue to be an annual event following the opening of our fully air-conditioned LEGO Star Wars™ Miniland model display last year,” said Mark Germyn, General Manager of LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort.
