Leigh Robbins commended as chef at Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens

Executive chef at Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne, Leigh Robbins has been judged “Highly Commended” in a national hotel industry award.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHe was one of 11 finalists in the Hotel Chef category of the “HM Awards” which was won by Pierre Khodia of The Flinders Hotel.

General Manager of Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens, Steve Finlayson said the commendation was an extraordinary achievement given Leigh Robbins, 29, had been the head chef for less than 12 months.

“He presented to us with the flair for European cuisine, he has an engaging enthusiasm and through his long term at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club had the experience in big venue kitchen pressure,” he said.

“He has made a significant difference here by increasing In-Room Dining orders, functions food revenue, guest food satisfaction rating, breakfast and dinner restaurant capture rates as well improving kitchen efficiencies, food wastage performance and kitchen staff turnover.

“On top of that, he has invited hotel guests and staff to join his test taste panels on new dishes, on a weekly basis, and cooked special private meals for VIP guests in their rooms or in the restaurant,” Mr Finlayson said.

The hotel’s Front Office Duty Manager, Caroline Larsson, was a finalist in the Rising Star category.
