Where better to enjoy a romantic escape this February than one’s own 90,000 acre (36,400 hectare) secluded Hawaiian island? The newly re-imagined Four Seasons Resort Lanai opens February 1, 2016, offering lovebirds a sophisticated yet relaxed escape to reconnect.

Celebrate love all month long with a series of engaging activities custom-made for couples, perfectly paired with a complimentary fourth night with the Stay Longer – Fourth Night Free experience.

Valentine’s Blind Tasting Menu – Let the Resort’s chefs from ONE FORTY start with fresh, local ingredients, and then add love, flair and technique to create five courses showcasing foods made for amour – from known aphrodisiacs such as lobster, oyster and caviar to naturally red foods.

Each course will be paired with prestigious Champagnes including Dom Pérignon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Ruinart and Louis Roederer Cristal – a perfect pairing as Champagne marries well with a vast array of flavours and is known to carry aromatic compounds in each bubble, contributing to the overall sensory experience. The five-course meal inclusive of wine pairing will be offered at USD 345 per person.

Mixology Moments – Experience a one-of-a-kind intimate mixology class and tasting with Puu pehe (Sweetheart Rock) as the backdrop. Let the head mixologist at Four Seasons Resort Lanai prepare a variety of Valentine’s Day-themed cocktails while talking about the inspiration behind the drinks in one of the new sanctuaries located at the oasis pool. February 12, 2016 at sunset, with additional “mixology mixers” every evening at 6:00 pm in the Lobby Bar

Sweet Treat Tasting – When talking about perfect pairs, wine and chocolate cannot be missed. Enjoy a decadent evening event, where a chocolate specialist will discuss the delicate flavours of different local chocolates paired with luscious wines, all while a guitarist serenades throughout the evening. February 19, 2016, 8:00–10:00 pm

Table for Two – For those seeking the ultimate in privacy, why not book a table for two under the stars? This dining experience begins as guests are escorted to a secluded oceanfront location, complete with dazzling sunset views overlooking Hulopo‘e Bay, deemed one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. Enjoy a personalised five-course menu and wine pairing created following a consultation with Chef the day prior. Watch the evening stars over dessert and coffee – there’s no rush, the table is booked for the evening. The Dining Under the Stars experience begins at USD 995 per couple.*

Say I Do, All Over Again – Fall in love all over again on the secluded island paradise of Four Seasons Resort Lanai. Cherish life together and the vows first exchanged on the wedding day in a special celebration with the Just The Two Of Us … Again experience.

To round out a romantic escapade, try one of these activities and let the sparks fly:

  • Hike up to Puu Pehe (Sweetheart Rock) next to Hulopoe Bay at sunrise. Legend has it that a beautiful young chiefess wed a young warrior from Lanai. The young warrior was so stricken with her beauty that he was afraid to let other men see her when he was away from their homestead, and thus he confined the princess to a sea cave near the rock. One day, while the warrior was away, the weather changed drastically, and the raging surf began to pound the side of the island. The warrior rushed back to the cave, but it was too late, as his beloved Puu Pehe had drowned. Heartbroken, he retrieved her body and, with the help of the gods, climbed the steep rock island, where he buried her in a tomb. Overcome with grief, the warrior then lept off the rock to his death.
  • Jump in a 4×4 and head to Halepalaoa Beach on the eastern side of the island. Named for the whales that once came to shore there, this golden sandy beach is a quiet place to relax, sunbathe and swim – often with nary another beachcomber in sight. Pack a picnic and enjoy a day together lounging in secluded bliss.  The ruins of the old Maunalei Sugar Plantation wharf are nearby for a bit of sightseeing before heading back to civilisation.
  • Capture the moment in canvas and commission a sketch or painting by local artist Mike Carroll. Mike moved from Chicago to Lanai to pursue his life-long passion for art and nature, and his original oil paintings and prints celebrate Hawaii. Couples can share a favourite romantic spot or send in a photo to commemorate their visit and take home a unique remembrance of a special time together.
  • Set out on the waves together for a snorkel sail and explore the underwater world together. View the island of Lanai from a different perspective and enjoy the ocean breezes, beautiful views and exciting variety of colourful fish. Climb aboard a beautiful catamaran and let the experienced team from Trilogy Excursions cast one away.

Four Seasons Resort Lanai is located on a pristine island a few miles west of Maui reflecting a simpler pace of life – Hawaii as it was intended to be. Guests can enjoy an exclusive island escape offering unique cultural adventures, myriad water and land activities and world-class tennis and golf.
