Lake Macquarie put on its very own light show, with over 20 boats lighting up the night skies and calm waters of Lake Macquarie during the region’s favourite boating regattanFloat Your Boat – an event where passionate boat owners are encouraged to decorate their vessels in lights and take part in a parade around the Lake.

From a giant T-Rex – the highlight of this year’s event – to a cuddly koala, a pineapple assembled by local high school students and the sea-god Poseidon, the flotilla certainly didn’t fall short of expectations for the 2019 event.

Over 20,000 spectators filled Lake Macquarie’s foreshore over two nights to join festivities and enjoy the passing light show.

“Float Your Boat brings people together in winter, it showcases the lake and it stimulates our night-time economy,” said Lake Macquarie’s Mayor, Kay Fraser.

“Its success is a great credit to all the boaties who put time and effort into making such spectacular floating displays. Without them, this event couldn’t happen.”

Float Your Boat continues to be one of NSW’s favourite family friendly winter events and it’s easy to see why after yet another spectacular festival this year!
