Visitors to The Rocks can expect some magic in the heart of the city this spring as The Rocks Village Bizarrereturns once more to transform the iconic cobblestoned suburb into a playground of all things weird and wonderful.
Presented by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the event brings visitors into the city supporting the visitor economy. It kicks off every Friday from 13 November to 18 December, between 6:30pm and 10pm. The moonlit Bizarre will inspire imagination, with quirky performances in unusual spaces, music, pop-up experiences and markets that will have people talking for weeks.
Revellers can expect the unexpected through a series of unique performances with ‘Vaudevillia’ being one of the opening acts to set the tone with a wickedly funny host and an accompanying band, it’s vaudeville crossed with cabaret and is sure to get visitors smiling.
Those who prefer their performances served up with a little audience participation would do well to visit the Bizarre’sNo Lights No Lycra blackout dance party where visitors can shake out the stresses of the week, and lose themselves in darkness and music.
Visitors will be able to walk through The Rocks outdoor night markets where they can pick up small treasures and eat some delicious artisan street food some of the best vendors.
Ghosts of Sydney’s world class heritage precinct will also be there with Professor Mac the Snake Oil Merchantprowling the streets, wheeling his cart full of potions and giving instructions about herbs, hysteria and the dangers of air.
Every laneway of The Rocks will unveil a new performance, a new adventure and a new experience. So, get ready to end your working week in the mysterious world of The Rocks Village Bizarre – every Friday night from 13 November to 18 December.
