Korean born Australian singer Dami Im has been selected to represent Australia at the Eurovision 2016 song contest in Stockholm, Sweden this May. She will perform her new song ‘Sound of Silence’ launched last evening on SBS2 ‘The Feed’ and released today worldwide by Sony Music.
The new ballad from Dami Im is already proving popular on itunes and will see Australia have a second chance at Eurovision glory. Last year Eurovision invited Australia to compete, being the first time in Eurovision history for a nation outside of Europe to gain the chance to compete. Guy Sebastian ended up in the top five so it is hoped that Dami Im will do better this year and perhaps take the Eurovision 2016 crown.
Dami says of her new song to feature at Eurovision 2016, “There are many ways to interpret the meaning around a song, but one theme that I relate to in Sound of Silence is that of disconnection and being away from the people in my life that I love”. “We live in a world where it is easy to be connected every minute of the day but along with this connection you can feel alone and isolated. I can’t wait to perform it live in Stockholm and connect with a whole new audience.”
Dami is a great ambassador not only for Australia but also for her birth country of Korea. She has proven to be a stayer in the music industry since her win on The X-Factor Australia in 2013.
