egtmedia59The Australian National Maritime Museum has opened Sydney’s latest event venue, the Lighthouse Gallery on the Darling Harbour Waterfront. Offering expansive views of the harbour and city skyline, it is now open for event bookings.

The Lighthouse Gallery opened on Thursday at a function attended by corporate and travel industry guests, welcomed with a host of drinks including the formidable Old Fashioned (a cocktail designed around Bourbon, honey, bitters and citrus peel) as fire dancers whirled outside. Lighthouse Gallery exterior

The new venue adds to the museum’s already strong portfolio of venues, which include The Terrace Room, Yots Waterside, Ben Lexcen Terrace, The Theatre, Tasman Light Gallery, HMB Endeavour Replica and HMAS Vampire.

Deanna Varga of the Australian National Maritime Museum says the new venue satisfies the need in the current event market for larger capacities and, backed by the Australian National Maritime Museum’s own event team along with its partnership with one of Sydney’s best catering companies, Laissez-Faire, Lighthouse Gallery offers a “one-of-a-kind experience for event organisers and delegates alike”.

Incidentally, the historic Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse outside the venue was assembled there in 1994 after being moved from its original home near Townsville. The beautiful 140-year-old structure was built of Queensland hardwood timber and iron cladding from Britain.
